My immediate family consists of my Mom (Lynn), Dad (Fred), and myself. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful parents, and also to have such a good relationship with them. I feel so bad for those who do not have the blessing of the strong family ties that I have been given. My parents are extremely supportive of me and allow me to live at home. They also help me out with the expenses of my goats, as I do not have a "real" job. (I do work for my grandparents, but it's just a small, less-than-part time job. Really it's more just to help them out, but I do get a little cash from it.
) My parents are also willing to help me out with chores anytime I get sick or have some commitment that prevents me from doing it. As I said, I was blessed with awesome parents. I know a lot of parents would not help me at all, and some would even have expected me to pay my own way completely since I am a legal "adult." (Even though I seldom feel like one!) They are also putting me through college- thankfully I live close enough to be able to live at home and not in a dorm.
I have also been blessed with a close knit extended family. We all truly rely on each other and stay close. There are really no "estranged" family members. Sure, we don't always all get along, but that's life. What matters is that we love each other. And I know who I could call if I needed help and my parents weren't around. God has really given me way more blessings than I deserve, with my family and my goats and my other pets (not to mention some friends, and some very helpful "goat people" friends.) As my mom always says, when it comes down to it you always have your family.
Here are some pictures of us:
Granny and Mom. These ladies are my role models.
This is Dad, being goofy with Bree. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have a fence or a barn. He's "the muscle behind the operation."
Mom and Dad celebrating their 25th anniversary. (I made the cake, btw. One of my hobbies.)
This is me, and I believe that is my Aunt Pat and Granny in the background. Not sure what occasion this was.
This is the whole gang on Mom's side. Christmas 2008.
