I hope everyone's summer is going as splendidly as mine. The goats are doing wonderfully, as is Mellow (who is getting along better with the goats, I might add), the ducks, and the rest of our random assortment of critters floating around here in Wonderland. Everyday here is truly a blessing, but somedays hold more blessings than others. The day after we brought Rumor and Ariel home, we found a little play house for them to use as a rain shelter for a cheap 40 bucks. A more permanent, winter-appropiate house for them will be made soon, but this meets their needs during the summer months, abnormally wet though they have been. We also happened to drive by a house with two wooden spools in the yard, the kind goats like to play on. We stopped, and he told us that whenever he has extra, we could have one for free. Though we have not yet seen more than the two in his yard, which were his human kids play things, I'm hoping we will soon drive by to see extra spools and be able to bring home a new plaything for the goats. Until then, they can content themselves by jumping on my chair that I sit on when just relaxing with the, and stripping the leaves off of the small trees.
The biggest blessing, however, is the selling of my old car last week. I had a '92 Pontiac Firebird Convertible. It was a pretty great car, but for me - what with my goats and my aspirations to turn Wonderland into a full-fledged homestead - it was impractical. So instead, I sold it to a nice man who had left a note in our mailbox asking us to contact him if we ever sold it. Thank goodness he was still interested! And I got my full asking price, which I was afraid would be impossible in this economy.
(It was a fair price, of course, but I was prepared to have to go lower if I really wanted to sell.) God is good!
