Bakersville Heritage Days

Posted by Rachel Payne on August 5, 2009 at 11:59 AM

If you have never visited Bakersville Heirloom Seeds and Historic Village you are missing out. They have a wonderful selection of heirloom seeds (not hybrids, and no genetic altering), as well as an Apothcary, Mercantile, Restaraunt, Black Smith, Opry Barn, and several breeds of poultry on display. On the first Sunday of every month they have their Heritage Days festivals, which we went to this past weekend. Vendors come and make displays and sell their goods. I bought a beautiful picture of a Barred Owl, Apple Jack and Cinnomon scented homemade soap, dried raspberry leaves for my goats (it's good for pregnancy and birthing), and the seeds for our winter garden; carrots, onions, cabbage, lettuce, turnips, and celery. After having been to Bakersville, which is in Mansfield, Missouri, I can honestly say that the area is one of my favorite places. It's very rural, the people are much more pleasant than the vast majority of the ones near Memphis, and the land is beautiful.
